Oh, Pizzicato Sellwood

This really isnt for anyone or anything, and is more of a dear diary post... So I have been going to pizzicato in sellwood from around the age of 13ish when I would grab lunch there from the boys and girls club. I do have to say that the pizza is just amazing. When I started working at Ted Isaacs Salon I went there almost every work day. I knew the manager and the staff and everything was great! They are all smokers and take their break behind the salon which is where I would sit if it was nice out. So I would talk with them daily. The staff didn't change for a while until the manager had worked up, and there was a new manager, Nate. I loved having Nate and Josh as the managers there. I wrote pizzicato little cute love letters because they were just amazing and I always like to let people know when they are great! They even posted up one on their wall next to the register! The staff continued to stay the same with a few people dropping off. Well after a while I started making friends with a girl there. Super skinny, hipster cute, and really funny, I also did her hair. I loved her a whole lot. That was Tosha, who had moved away. :( At the same time she moved away, Nate moved up in the company, Josh had become gm for a different location and took a few other awesome employees with him. I was kind of broken hearted and bummed to be honest because I had a friendship built with all these people who moved away all at the same time! Of course there is room to make new friends... Than I saw that my love letter was taken down from next to the register. It if funny because I had a connection with that stupid piece of paper! When it was removed I was upset and to be honest I didn't come in for a few weeks after. Hahaha The new manager there is super cool though, I'm still getting used to the new staff who are really nice! I just miss the faces I saw every day. I'll have to make another love letter soon for them to hang on their wall... Hopefully it will stay this time...

Food, candy, and bunnies...

Yep today is Easter as everyone was announcing on Facebook. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOOOOW! Okay, yes I did... Anyways I have a collection of photos and a sweet little video which represent our day. When we woke up this morning we stuffed several plastic eggs with little gummy bears and lightly hid them around the home. Kerrigan is still only 2 so we needed to be easy on him. Here is the video of that.

After that we had gotten ready in our fancy Easter attire. I decided to try the natural wave thing with my hair which I haven't done in a while. It didn't go as planned so I decided to curl just my longer front piece. I wanted to feel pretty so I did my makeup up nice, and wore something that reminded me of Easter, so I chose my pink floral dress with the lace vest. It was eventful. We took Kerrigan to our friends place, and had a picnic while Kerrigan played at the park. Than had gone to the mother in laws house for burgers. I am so tired from my busy week! I am ready for bed!! But before I go, here is a little collage of my day. :) Hope your Easter went well!!!

I love not only my clients but their smiles!

I absolutely love how I have been attracting more clients like me! It is like catching up with old friends while making the look amazing! I know most say its all business, but it is so hard not talking about their life and telling them funny stories. I just love making people laugh!!! Anyways, here is a cute cut and color I did on one of my wonderful amazing clients! Happy Easter!

One week from today!

I'm off to Seattle from the 7th through the 9th! I'll be getting trained in hairdreams laserbeamer extensions! They allow me to apply a half extension in 45 minutes or less, and a full head can take about the same amount of time as a color! I'll be working on my adorable cousin as my model! Before and after photos to be posted soon after the class!! :) I am hoping I can enjoy the sun today also... I have a full day in the salon but I am just hoping I will have a second of a break to get a little sun.

Love & Regret

So this weeks love and regret products are Peter Thomas Roth Therapeutic Sulfur Masque & NARS larger than life long wear eyeliner.

The Winner Is...

100% worth it! I use it once a week as a full mask, and also as a spot treatment periodically. I did not buy the "cooling sulfur mask" because I hate cooling things on my face! The smell of this is very light. The consistency is thick. You only need a small covering of your face, so don't use too much! It clears up my face, and helps control my oily skin. I love this stuff!

My Regret...

I was sold on this product because it was a twist eyeliner that had a built in sharpener! What that leads to is unused product that you throw away! It is too soft in consistency, and smears onto my upper lid if it hasn't set to dry. The sharpener became unusable because the eyeliner is too soft and had broke off inside. Not good for sleek precise cat eye looks. It might be good for smudging, but besides that? Not happy with it at all, and would never buy it again...

Never give up!

Watch this video.
This comes to show that whenever you have a dream, and odds are stacked against you that you can still succeed. The ONLY way that will happen is by trusting in yourself, falling down, trying even when you fail, and getting back up. Stop making excuses, and start making change!

Easy guide to buying a hairbrush

Using the right brush for your hair is a MUST for your hair routine. It can make your hair healthier, shinier, less frizzy, and cut down your dry time.I love Olivia Garden brushes!i use them at home at suggest them to clients. Click here for her website.

Types of Brushes

-Round brushes are to gain volume, and create movement in the hair.

-Paddle brushes are best used for directional power drying.
-Vent brushes are ideal for pixie short haircuts.
-Square brushes have greater tension control, flat sides for straightening, and rounded edges for volume.

Boar? Synthetic? or Both?

Boar brushes are highly packed with high tension. Great for hair that needs the extra tension. Thick, curly, or very fine hair need the additional tension to make sure hair stays on the brush to be smoothed out.

Synthetic brushes dry hair faster, and are usually on a metallic base which heats up resulting in a speedy blow dry.

Combination brushes with both boar and synthetic bristles marry the best of both into a fast drying, high tension blow dry! The core and nylon dries hair faster while using the tension to manually pull hair straight and smooth.

What is the core?

Wood- A natural alternative, and does not cut down dry time. Good for fine, or damaged hair which does not need additional heat.

Ceramic- An inorganic nonmetal coating that provides constant even heat.

Ionic- Produces negative ions which eliminate frizz and static by smoothing and closing the cuticle layer of the hair. Creates a straighter and smoother look.

Nanotechnology- Nano sized ions transfer quickly to hair, creating shine and eliminating buildup, toxins, static and bacteria.

Tourmaline- A semiprecious gem that is a natural source of negative ions and infrared rays. When used in tourmaline hair styling tools, the crystal emits negative ions - six times more than only ceramic styling tools. These negatively charged ions actually help smooth hair by sealing the cuticles, and helping the hair to retain moisture. These negatively charged ions actually help smooth hair by sealing the cuticle layer and helping the hair to retain moisture. It is best for people who have thick, frizzy or textured hair, or for those who blow dry, straighten or curl their hair on a regular basis.

What size round brush should I buy?

The rules say you should be able to wrap your hair around the brush a total of 1 1/2 times. But rules can be broken. Here are some tips!

Smaller (3/4"- 1 1/4")

Creates more flip in the hair. On short hair you can make it flip in and out. I like using a small round brush on the lower back half of my alines. Than upgrading to the medium size 1/2 finishing up the back of the head, top, and sides. On longer hair you will have volume at the root, a straight mid-shaft, and a flip at your ends.

Medium (1 1/2" - 2 1/2")

A good general size for medium length and longer. Creates volume and movement within a style, easily flip hair in or out for different styling.

Large (2 3/4" or BIGGER)

Creates a straighter look for long hair.

Lets play the what's in my shower game!!

I am always asked how my hair can be so healthy being so BLONDE and constantly coloring it! The secret is I use good products religiously for my hair... I usually have a crap-ton of mix matched products but I have streamlined my products in my shower. I'll give you insider info on how I keep my hair so healthy and happy!

It's a 10 Miracle Sulfate Free Shampoo
I use this every day. I have tried the plus keratin shampoo and I wouldn't suggest it unless you have really damaged hair that needs repairing. I found that once my hair got healthy after coloring that the keratin would build up and make it difficult to dry. I only bring that out after I color my hair, and for only a few shampoos. The new silk shampoo they have smells so badly of perfume! But if you don't mind leaving your shower smelling like you just left the Macy's perfume counter than feel free to try it!

It's a 10 Miracle Daily Conditioner
I use this daily and I LOVE IT! It makes my hair feel so soft, and shiny! Also, for you girls trying to stay away from dimethicone this is a great find! Both the hair mask and deep conditioner contain dimethicone so I use them only 1-2 times a week.

It's a 10 Hair Mask
I use this when my hair needs extra moisture! Mainly during very hot, and very cold months. I use it 1-2 times a week. I supply this product on my backbar at the salon to use on my clients as a treatment.

It's a 10 Deep Conditioner Plus Keratin
I use the deep conditioner when my hair needs rebuilding. Typically after color, or if I have been flat ironing or curling my hair often. Any of the plus keratin products I would suggest to use sparingly! The keratin goes in and rebuilds the bonds in your hair, but once that is done it can build up on the outside of your hair!
